Sunday in Shorewood

Hi all! Last weekend, I drove to a peaceful wooded area in Shorewood to photograph a great family: Sarah, Matt, 21-month-old Addison, and 6-month-old Alivia. We met in the morning on a day that turned out to be sweltering later, and the girls were super  sweet, lively, and well-behaved throughout the whole shoot. Despite numerous appearances by a red-shirted forest preserve work crew and their accompanying German shepherd, we were able to get some really wonderful pictures.

I can’t believe July is already nearing its end–let me know if I can take some summer photos for you and your family!

Mornin’ at the marsh

Hey, all! Hope the 4th of July holiday was good to you!

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing the very first family for whom I ever did a session; Jake and Laura entrusted me with family photos back when they were a family of 3–long before I had a business and long before baby Molly joined big sister Claire. Now, they are a beautiful, funny, and gracious family of 4, and we met near a natural marshland in Wheaton to take some morning¬†photographs. Claire did some major exploring, berry picking, tree climbing, and examining of idle high ropes course apparati, and Molly did a good job keeping up with her big sis–and, of course, striking out on her own and doing her own thing when she felt so inclined.

It was so nice to catch up with the family and spend time with them; they’re the best. And as you can see, tons of gorgeous photos came from this session–click on any of them to enlarge and view the slideshow!

Another summer session!

Last weekend, I traveled to the suburb of Park Ridge to take photos of a great family of 4: Gretchen, Todd, Gabi (3), and Beckett (approx. 1.5). The family had moved from the city to the ‘burbs in February, so this is their first summer in this home.¬†Gabi and Beckett are ¬†energetic and super fun; when Gretchen asked Gabi that morning where she wanted to take pictures, Gabi said, “Flo Rida’s house.” Since we were unable to to get in contact with Mr. Flo Rida, we kept it local, and we were ¬†able to grab a few family shots in front of their awesome wooden front door,¬†and then we took advantage of their great front and back yards and just let the kids play–and run, run, run. Gabi in particular has an incredibly animated face and is really outgoing, so she was a total hoot to photograph–some of the photos that are my favorites aren’t necessarily of her smiling but rather of her making some sort of awesome facial expression.

Below are some of my personal favorites. Have a wonderful rest of the week, y’all!

Hey, Indiana. Good to see you.

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful family: Jana, Jason, and their two boys, Blake (3) and Andrew (approx. 1.5). The boys were so good-natured, well-behaved, and fun, and I think they had a pretty good time exploring a nature preserve in Hammond, Indiana, which offered a boardwalk, a lake, hills, trails, and even a few swans, among other elements!¬†This location was within spittin’ distance of the traffic hum of Interstate 94, ¬†yet it provided some awesome backdrops for a nice session with a really sweet family. The rain stayed away this afternoon despite sometimes-cloudy skies, and with occasional brief snack breaks of goldfish crackers and Pez, we pulled off quite a few shots, and I had a great time doing it.

I took over 450 photos (!), and here are a few of my faves.

Hope the 4th of July was good to you!
