How long will it take to receive my photographs?

I’ll try to get you your photos as soon as possible; however, average turnaround time will be approximately 3 weeks–within that time you will receive your complimentary print(s) and the flash drive of edited images!

Do you have any formal photography training?

Like many family photographers, I’m largely self-taught but have received training from the Chicago Photography Center in Chicago, IL (www.chicagophoto.org). If you’d like to check out more of my scenic photography work from my trips to Europe and Southeast Asia, please visit my travel blog at spooninasia.wordpress.com.

What experience do you have interacting with children?

Great question. I started babysitting when I was 11 years old, and I’ve had younger cousins since I was 8 years old. I worked as a full-time nanny for two kids during my college summers, and I also taught Vacation Bible School to the 3-year-old class for several summers. I’ve staffed nurseries in churches, and I’m a godmother to two, an aunt to an almost-two-year-old, and an honorary auntie to many kiddos. Also, I’ve been a high school teacher for  13 years, and my education training allowed me to work in a variety of school settings, so I gained experience with all age and ability levels. Thus, I’m prepared to quote The Wiggles, change diapers, teach themes from A Tale of Two Cities, and make goofy faces all day long if needed.

How should we dress for our session?

Be comfortable. Honestly, you can dress your child(ren), yourself, and whomever else is being photographed in whatever ways best show your personalities. You should try to avoid solid black or solid white for tops. I’d be happy to consult with you prior to the session on what outfits would be most likely to photograph well, and feel free to bring multiple clothing options to your session!

Can you take engagement, senior year, family, or pet photos for me?

Absolutely! If you’d like to see sample work of those types of shoots, just ask.

What type of camera and lenses do you use?

I’m a Canon user, currently shooting with three different lenses that I’ll change around (or not) based on the needs of your situation.

Can you show us pictures of your old dog?

Yes. This is Piper. She was the light of my life for nine years. Piper.IMG_2409

Can you show us pictures of the dogs you have now?

Yep. Here are Norm and Penny. They bring us endless joy and laughter, and we love them madly.
